Emily Graetz - Morning Shimmer - Acrylic on Canvas

Emily Graetz was raised in Ontario, but grew up travelling coast to coast. After spending time in British Columbia, and living in Germany, she now resides in Nova Scotia. She went to University of Guelph for Studio Art and Geography, and these combined interests can be seen through her series of work. Originally a photographer, her work stems from photorealistic painting to what now is an expressionistic and surrealistic style, studying and intensifying light, shadows and colours. With the intention to give a sense of space, rather than place, she aims to create an experience that invites people into different landscapes and be taken back to their own memories that lay within that space. With the intention to create her pieces as universally placed landscapes, each painting can be anywhere and everywhere. People coming from all over find their own places in these painted spaces
