Julie King makes art to immerse herself in the joy of creative flow. She paints in oil, acrylic and explores mixed media techniques, to create fine art with texture, contrast and mood. Julie uses both experimental and traditional methods to create a visual experience that is both haunting and beautiful, inspired by the majesty and perfection of the natural world. Julie’s work forges deep emotional connections with viewers, allowing them to experience a range of feelings; from joy and awe to reflection and introspection. Each piece she creates is designed to evoke a sense of wonder and nostalgia, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own experiences and memories within the art. The viewing experience transcends the visual and the art is not only seen, but deeply felt. Julie holds a Fine Art education from the Alberta College of Art (now Alberta University of the Arts) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where she majored in drawing, and has studied the styles of Classical Realism, Naturalism and Impressionism in oil painting at Pro’s Art School in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Today, Julie shows her work with various Galleries, Art Walks, Cafes, Institutions and Markets in the Greater Edmonton area. Julie is a lifelong artist living and creating on her acreage in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. In 2021 she left her 25 year career in professional printing behind to dedicate her time fully to her art practice. She splits her time between Alberta and the Sunshine Coast, British Columbia, where she spends her time ocean kayaking, swimming, hiking and gathering inspiration for her work.
