Sabine Hahnel, a Canadian artist of German descent, has carved a remarkable niche in the world of art with her evocative and diverse creations. Her work spans expansive prairie and mountain landscapes, enchanting forest scenes, and vibrant impressionistic floral compositions, each infused with her distinctive perspective and passion. Through her art, she captures the essence of nature, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in its beauty. Entirely self-taught, Sabine has refined her craft through workshops, community engagement, and relentless experimentation. She seamlessly blends traditional and contemporary impressionistic techniques, creating works that resonate with emotion and authenticity. Her artistic portfolio encompasses three distinct bodies of work: expansive landscapes and floral stills rendered in acrylics and oils on large canvases, at times with an added touch of Japanese chiyogami paper, whimsical and playful watercolors in smaller formats, and a unifying interplay of dynamic color and light that breathes vitality into every piece. Sabine's artistic journey is deeply rooted in her personal story of resilience and freedom. Growing up in East Germany, where creative expression was stifled, she now celebrates the liberty to re imagine reality. Her move to Canada in 1998 with her family marked a profound turning point, allowing her creativity to flourish unencumbered by past constraints. Despite a demanding four-decade career as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, Sabine's artistic spirit has thrived. Today, she creates from her bison ranch near Two Hills, Alberta, where she balances her time between tending to her homestead and pursuing her art..
