Simone Bos - Into the Sky - Acrylic on Canvas

Simone is inspired by the wild, beautiful and yet familiar landscapes of northern Ontario. Simone finds her inspiration in God's creation, and it is her goal to capture the everyday beauty and mood of different landscapes. Her paintings often feature the Ahmic lakeshore, found in Magnetawan, the fields, trees and farms near her home in Cambridge, or landscapes seen on a recent adventure. Simone focuses on the use of layered cubes of color to transform photos into feelings on canvas. She finds that the intentional use of brushstrokes as cubes and lines gives rhythm and interest to her paintings, and allows for a calming art-making experience. These cubes are also a nod to video games and the beautiful worlds that can be created with pixels. Simone’s paintings, like virtual worlds, reflect reality, but add creative interpretation to capture the emotion of the viewer in a unique way. Simone has been painting consistently since 2017, and has worked in her Color Cube Style since 2020. Since 2019 she has shown art in a wide variety of local galleries and exhibitions. Simone has been working full time as an artist since 2023 from her art studio in Cambridge, and currently balances artmaking with teaching part-time at a local high school. She also teaches art classes from her studio, as she finds joy in inspiring a love for artmaking and creativity in others..
